How many hats does a bar mitzvah boy typically get? We just got one but our son is telling us he needs a shabbos hat and a week day hat. What is typical? My husband only has one!

We got 2 as did all of ds friends except one. Dh also only has 1 but did have 2 in his yeshiva years where he wore hats more often.

We only got our son 1, we'll probably get him a 2nd one when he goes to high school and his head has finished growing more, but for now 1 is sufficient, my husband only has one that he wears both weekday and Shabbos.

We got DS shabbos and weekday.
Honestly I have no idea what the difference between them is but DS does.

I think we bought my boys one. Then they used bar mitzvah money to buy themselves a nIce shabbos hat, as well

DS’s fit differently. The Shabbos hat is meant to sit on top of the head and the weekday sits further back to accommodate tefilin.
The materials I can’t tell the difference even though one is officially nicer.

My son abuses his weekday hat, they wear it to school and in the rain and snow.
We take better care of the shabbos hat.

My son will be bar mitzvah in June iyh. We were told by everybody that we have to get them two hats.... So that's the plan

I bought a regular hat ($300) that he'll use for shabbos and simchas and one for yeshiva for less than $100 from yeshivishhats.com that he'll use for /leave in yeshivah.

Both of my boys got 1 at their bar mitzvah and a second for Shabbos when starting Yeshiva.
