coat for sem rec please - I am guessing mid weight, hood, water resistant? would be great if it is smallish for packing. BY seminary, wants to have what the others have

Just looked up alo since I was unfamiliar....a little out of budget of what I want to spend. Neither she nor I are into name brandsm per se when they are that much more $$$. Any suggestions with a more reasonable price tag

Assuming you’re not from FL or CA - send her with her coat from 12th grade. She’s going to insist on a new one when she gets back anyhow.

the last proper coat we bought was in 9th grade and doesn't fit. This year she made do with a fussy lightweight coat. Not enough for rainy chilly days walking in yerushalyim

Dd last year went with her regular black puffer coat. She had it from 12 th grade. She wore it weekday and Shabbos, as needed, didn’t get a Shabbos coat for sem.
Yerushalayim at night can get really freezing.

If she’s not into brands then go with something cheap like from Uniqlo. Or cheaper coat from Macys.

Uniqlo check the ultra light down jacket. It’s not meant for 20 degrees. But shud b fine for 40. She may need to wear a heavy sweater underneath for the colder nights.

This one is perfect. Price is great and not too bulky.

Why would you say that? The down coats I've always bought are machine washable.

I just showed the above amazon link to DD, she said that it is "nerdy". Any links with suggestions of practical coats for Israel seminary that that age will like very appreciated

I finally got a packing list from the seminary - they write to bring a hooded medium weight jacket and a winter coat (not too heavy, wont be used much).

I was thinking a bomber jacket s her light one, but that doesn't have a hood. Any thoughts would be helpful. should the winter coat have a hood?

I don't know much about seminary fashions, and this is probably terrible, nerdy, and everything else unspeakable. However I've lived in Jerusalem for more years than your daughter has been alive and this is my go to winter coat.
