My daughter had a baby in Israel and I'm going to help her. Do I have to take a doona with me or can I buy it there?

Shilav chain sells them, but they're more expensive

She might not want or need a doona, especially if she doesn't have a car
A strong, sturdy stroller that easily takes to hills and steps might be better
Or a lightweight travel stroller if she takes the bus very often

Here’s a link to the Shilav site. They have it for 2890 shekel which is around $790.
When I had a baby in Israel my mom bought me a Doona in America and just packed it in a big suitcase.
It came in perfect condition and I’ve used it to far for 2 kids bH.

I thought it was an Israeli invention, why does it cost more?

Pricing is affected by where it is manufactured and warehoused.
Not in which country the person with the idea came from

Interesting. I bought my doona about 9 months ago in Israel. There's a shilav in shaarei tzedek hospital where I gave birth AND it was cheaper than us was selling it (without the car base which I didn't want anyway since I don't own a car. I do travel a lot with my baby so it's been very helpful.

Ok I just checked, this is for Doona X- the newest version that also lays back. They don't seem to have the regular (old doona) in stock. They have the older "plus" version with the diaper bag for a bit cheaper

I remember that the US version is a bit different then the one they sell in Israel. Europe and the US have different regulations for the harness. Check to make sure that this doesn't bother you.

Also, in the uk the price for doona plus went down 30% after the doona x came out (it's about 350$ now) so maybe it's worthwhile to wait for the doona x version to come out in the us before purchasing a doone there?

I bought the doina in shilav a few months ago and it was on sale for 1590. Original price 1990. I would purchase here and instead bring her a real stroller like bugaboo or UPPAbaby. Cheaper there
