My 2yo son has stunning wavy hair that goes way down his back but curls up as it dries. It's very fine.
I'm having trouble figuring out how to take care of it.
I have a wet brush for detangling in the bath, and use Johnson's curly shampoo and then a leave in conditioner.
How do I make it look nice and neat either in a pony or half up in the morning? What kind of brush do I use for that? Even if I wet his hair a bit the wet brush doesn't seem quite right for that.

You are only supposed to brush curl hair wet. So if you plan on brushing it in the morning, you need to wet it and not just a little(spray bottle is fine) and then you can brush it the same way you do after washing his hair.

Wide tooth comb & water. Never dry especially not with a brush.
