Adding on to OP's question:
Do boys post bar mitzvah wear these t shirts also?

Unless he is going to very yeshivish camp, 97% of kids are wearing tiros. IMO its better to wear the no name dri-fit/sport tees than wearing a polo with tiros.
Hopefully your boys won't care what year tiros they wear. My son needs to have the 24s, but I told him I'm buying him mostly older season because they are half the price.
Some kids get summer sneakers with colors they aren't allowed to wear in yeshiva.

In a way I feel relieved that my son is refusing to go back to camp this summer…
I know it’s exciting for them to wear shirts without collars (tees) in the summer but I didn’t realize that they literally need a whole new wardrobe.

I don’t think it really matters but most popular (and therefore “safest”) color for stripes is white

I find, of all their clothing, you can do really with this stuff at a second hand store like goodwill. I get tons of tiros and athletic ware for very little and if its ruined by September fine with me.

My older ds did this but it probably depends on the type of boy.

I think it depends on your kid
If he’s the type that wants to follow exactly like everyone else then prob not
I asked my ds if he needs any new t shirts for summer he said no, my regular stuff is good. (He wears cotton t shirts during the year, not polos.)
But my ds is a confident boy who doesn’t notice or care to be exactly like everyone else.
