Q for sheitel machers and experienced sheitel wearers

I have a sheitel that's Abt 4 years old and got a new one this year (don't be jealous. Those two sheitels were replacing two that were around a decade old)

My newer one is darker and I like it better.

I want to dye the lighter one darker. Could be I bought a lighter sheitels, could be it lightened over the years...

Will dying it darker make it die sooner?
Does it damage the sheitel?

Also , once I start dying it will I have to keep doing it every few months? How soon will it wash out? After a certain amt of time?

I don't know if it will make it die sooner, but my personal feeling is that once you start you will need to keep doing it every few months. I don't know if that means the dye is causing damage--I don't think so--or more likely by the time it starts requiring dying, that it means the wig is sort of on its way out anyway.

(I'm not a Sheitel Macher or anything, just someone who's currently dying my three-year-old wig every few months... I'm pretty sure that some of the color washes out every time I wash it.)

If you're not careful. A good dye job could extend the life of an oxidized sheitel..
