yes, I remember the "sheleg al ha'aretz" song!
shanie - we need sound on imamother because your chalili song rings a faint bell and I need to hear it sung!
how about:
Quote: | I'm a little teapot
short and stout
here is my handle
and here is my spout
When I get all steamed up
you hear me shout
tip me over
and pour me out! |
and of course we had one hand on our waist for the handle and the other hand extended for the spout and we bent over at the end!

how are you today sir
very well, I thank you
run away, run away

Hmm...my memory might be failing me. I remember singing "Uf ayafti, ayafti, acharei kol rishon radafti..." and "Chanan VaAliza" and some other rounds, but not bachatzotzros. (It certainly wasn't a Morah Avivia choice.)

more songs I never heard of!
speaking of rounds: Row row row your boat ...
and remember trips and getting on line and the first person standing near a tree and everybody going under the first two and chanting:
R A T,
T L E
S N A K E SPELLS RATTLESNAKE!

yes, I know! and this was in the preschool division of the bais yaakov.

ridiculous words! |
we sang that too
and the rattlesnake song, too - I'd almost think we went to the same school, but you would have had that kum bachur atzail teacher too (and I guess you didn't )
chanan vealiza song: chanan vealiza yatz-u lasadeh, chanan haroeh, vealiza haseh, meh, meh, meh, meh, meh, meh
we also did that chalili song
what about? JJ, chalav yisrael, JJ (do they still do this while jumping rope?)
Once I had a candy store and business was so bad, I asked my mother what to do and this is what she said, take a can of gasoline and put it by the door, take a match and give a scratch and no more candy store. (morbid, yes, we would bounce a rubber ball and put the ball under our legs first for all the a's, then b's etc).
or amimses, a clapsies, a twirl about, touchbacksies (played with a rubber ball against a wall....)
miss mary mack, mack, mack
Bebe, I know Sheleg Ba-aretz, too
kids calling me to come play, will reminisce more later!

yes! though I would have NEVER remembered it or the words!
are your kids singing these songs or do you actually remember them???
how about:
There were ten in the bed
and the little one said,
roll over, roll over
so they all rolled over
and one fell down
there were nine in the bed
and the little one said
roll over, roll over
eight
seven
...
there was one in the bed and the little one said: GOOD NIGHT!

I actually remember them
It's amazing what sort of useless info fills my brain from those days. And as for nowadays...yesterday I was driving home from the store and could not remember if I had put the groceries in the trunk or not...

In my days they sang "Shefa, Shefa, cholov Lubavitch". Do they do that today, or has the brand name changed?
Do they still jump to "Two on time, don't be late" or "Champeen, jellybean (subbed for Halloween), who likes, ice cream"?
Ozmom, they must have different songs in Oz.
