neiros, challos

who made up that song?

I ran around the corner
and I ran around the block
and I ran right into a bakery shop
and I picked up a doughnut
and I wiped off the grease
and I handed the lady a five cent piece.

She looked at the nickle
and she looked at me
and she said kind sir you can plainly see
there's a hole in the nickle
there's a hole right through
said I, there's a hole in the doughnut too
thanks for the doughnut, goodbye!

Quote:
In a little house in the woods,
a little man by the window stood,
saw a rabbit running by,
knocking at my door.

"Help me, help me, help me," he cried
"or the hunters will shoot me alive."
"Little rabbit, come inside
and safely you shall live."

the way I remember this one is

"help me, help me help, he cried,
all the hunters will shoot me dead.
mister opened the door up wide
'you'll be safe inside'"

anybody know:

there once was an alef who went for a walk
he met a bais, vais and they had a little talk,
shalom mister gimmel and how are u today?
'baruch hashem fine' is what the gimmel did say.

then alef bais vais gimmel went down the street,
and who do u think they happened to meet?
it was a daled and a hey and a vav and a zayin,
they went to the fountain to drink some mayim.

then ches tes yud came to them and
alef bais vais gimmel daled hey vav zayin ches tes yud
went to daven to hashem

aha! we used to sing "strawberry shortcake, cream on top", which bothered me b/c it did NOT actually rhyme with "my sweetheart". I chalked it up to "what do you want, it's a children's game, you were expecting Shakespeare, maybe?" but your version makes more versical sense.

I don't remember where I've heard it but I remember miss sue to go like this:

Miss sue, 1,2,3
Miss sue 1,2,3
Mommy had a baby
tatty felt crazy
if it's a boy
give it a toy
if its a girl
give it a pearl
if its twins
give it pins
wrap it in tissue paper
send it in the elevator,
first floor stop,
second floor stop
third floor stop
fourth floor stop
S-T-O-P spells stop...

who remembers this song to jump rope.

On the mountains, stands a lady
who she is I do not know
or she wanted gold and silver
or she needs a punch in her bow..
Jump in ________
Jump out ________

all she wants is gold and silver
all she needs is a punch in the nose [so says my sister, but I vaguely remember something else, about a husband maybe?]

"Puff the Kosher Dragon lives in Palestine..."

to

"Puff the Kosher Dragon lives in Eretz Yisrael..."

re On Top of Spaghetti posted earlier, do you know that it's a take-off of On Top of Old Smokey? And did you know that there are terrific other variations on it?

look here for original and alternates (bottom of the page):

Thanx Motek for the clarification.. when I was little I sang along with bow.... yesterday when I posted it. bow seemed like a word that didn't belong there but I didn't know what did go there.. now I do.

This new and improved version was
Created by: "SaraYehudis" yours truly.. when I was an out-of-town daycamp counselour someplace in North America MANY years ago LOL
Each bunk had a name of one of the Mivtzayim. My group was bunk Bais, and their theme was Mezuzah! But the end was slightly different. It went:

Did you know I'm in the Mezuzah Crowd?
We love Mezuzahs,
Kiss, Kiss! (kissing the Mezuzah motion)

That is Funny! As the saying goes "adank der Riboine Shel Oilam az m' hut mir farshribben in di heilike seforim!" "Thanks to the One above that I was mentioned in the Holy Books"LOL
