If someone can please give me a recipe for a chicken and rice dish w/o wine so I can make it in time for Shabbos- I'd really appreciate it! And preferably w/o soup mixes...

TIA

what else were you planning to use ...

you can cook plain rice

make a chicken sautee ... in a little olive oil with onions fresh garlic, soysauce (ginger) black pepper, garlic powder,

you can add some mushrooms, other veggies ... even a can of baby corns ... it's up to you how much or how little ...

Don't know if I'm too late.

Put rice (preferably brown) at the bottom of the pan. Add amount of water you would usually use. Add veggies cut up (such as sweet potatoe and onions and zuchhinni). Place chicken on top. Pour on a lot of duck sauce to cover chicken. Cover with foil very very tight. Bake at 350 until done. Probably around 2 hours - but I'm not sure.

I make mine just like sky, but minus the duck sauce. We either coat with spices (basil, oregano, paprika, garlic, onion) or rub down the chicken with schug, or dump a bit of italian dressing on the chicken if I'm short on time.

Rice on bottom, some oil, salt and spices, and chicken on top, fill with water, cover and bake for like 2 hours or until done.

Thanks, but I ended up not being on the computer anymore when all these good ideas were posted.

I ended up putting 1 1/2 cups rice with 2 1/2 cups water and put the cleaned (mostly) chicken on top. I sprinkled lots of garlic over the chicken, then squirted and swirled honey on top of that. Covered and baked for about 2 hours. It came out really good! And the rice was quite gooey, if you like that kind- we do!

But, I'll be sure to save all your ideas for next time!

I know it's too late, but I figured I'd link to this recipe here. It's very good.

Chicken and Rice

I didn’t use the almonds or pine nuts, and I used veg instead of chicken broth. Also, I used about 1/2 the amount of oil, and 1 pkg of boneless chicken breasts because it was easier. It was DELICIOUS. The rice is as good as indian rice. I used basmati. but long grain white rice would do well too.
