A friend just gave me this recipe - it is easy and yummy Very Happy

6 skinless chicken breasts
1/4 cup sesame seeds
2tbls rice vinegar
2tbls sesame oil
1tbls brown sugar
2tbls wasabi powder

Saute sesame seeds in skillet, set aside.
Mix together rice vinegar, sesame oil, brown sugar and wasabi powder for the marinade.
Put chicken in ziplock bag w/ marinade for 1/2 hour then in skillet saute chicken with the sauce.

I wasn't sure when to add the sesame seeds, so I sprinkled them on top as I was sauteing the chicken.
Also, we found this chicken had a good flavour, but not spicy at all.
We prefer it to be a bit more spicy, so I would increase the wasabi powder next time!

Hope you enjoy it :-)

Is this boneless chicken breast or with the bone?

How long (appx) did it take to cook? Sounds yum. I want to try it for shabbos

I'd imagine the sesame is there to look prettier, as well as give a bit of a crunch.
You can probably leave it off, but if it's for allergy reasons, don't forget to substitute the sesame oil for reg. (which may very well alter the whole taste of the recipe)

DH rated it 5 stars!
He said it was perfect! (And he wasn't in the greatest of moods tonight)
So we'll definitely be making it again.

Boneless.
I actually used scallopini, cause DH likes very thin pieces.
I think you could use any kind, just adjust cooking time.

I think I did about 20 min after the initial browning. Just cut into one piece to make sure it's cooked through!

I think the sesame seeds (because they are sauteed), give a lot of flavour. I wouldn't leave them out, unless someone is allergic, or just hates them ;-)

I used chicken scallopini, which is very thin pieces. I find this is a good compromise. My family likes the smaller pieces, but nuggets take so much longer to cut and prepare!

GLad your DH liked it :-)

oh. so you browned each piece for a minute, and then removed.
when all were browned you put it all back in pot to cook for about 20 minutes?

I forgot to sautee the sesame seeds b4 hand. so what I did was:

made marinade.
put chicken into it & put in fridge for about an hour.
heated up oil in pot.
Added sesame seeds to cover bottom of pot.
Layed flat some shnitzel in pan (3 pieces fit in flat at a time)
when semi-cooked, flipped over. finished cooking.
removed. Added a bit more oil & more sesame, and repeated process until all were done.
I used thicker shnitzels. DH doesn't like the thinned ones.

What did you serve it with? I did with pasta, but I had to make a sauce to go with it, since there was no extra sauce from chicken.

Do you saute the sesame seeds in oil, or toast them in a dry pan?

Also, do you use regular sesame oil or toasted/roasted (dark) sasame oil?
