I checked my split peas, but I got distracted and forgot to rinse them! I already put them in with the other ingredients for the soup so I can't rinse them now. What do I do? Is it terrible to eat them if they haven't been rinsed?

I would to get off the dirt. But if it hasn't cooked yet I would just dump the water and call everything rinsed. Rinse out the pot put everything back.

is this supposedly a kashrus issue? if yes, it's one I never heard of before. I know about rinsing rice and such, not legumes.

I don't think so. It is just that peas are dirty...if they were checked there isn't a problem, but you may be adding some dirt with the peas that is all.
It isn't really even all that unhealthy.
