What am I doing wrong?
I added yeast to warm water (40 C) and nothing's happening.
I once heard Israeli yeast reacts different?
Help me!

read the package... is it live active yeast, which needs to be proofed first in warm water and sugar, or is it the kind that can be mixed directly into the flour and other dry ingredients and then you add the warm water and other liquids?

The later. But the recipe says to first add the yeast to water (and if Seraph says dont change the order, then I'm not changing the order).
In the end, I left it for 10 min or so and you did see something happening in the middle, just a bit, so I hope it's ok

I never proof my dry yeast (I use the vacuum packed blocks) I simply add it to all the dry ingredients and then add the liquids.

Bli Ayin Harah I've never had any problems.

I know that you can do it that way. However, I've only just started to make challe and am not brave enough to do it any different than the recipe tells me to.
