mine does as well as do the lubavitch shuls ...

people who daven nusach sfard have hakafos on shmini atzeeres too.

half my dh's shul stays after davenning.

I forgot to mention that all the other kehillos - in my hood do not have hakofos on the first night

We have hakafos on the first night, second night and last morning.

My father's shul has all four tefilos, even the first morning.

its funnt that I am seeing this thread right now as I just spoke to my brother and he is goingto hakafot shniot somewhere. now, in israel, hakafot shniot are done with musical intruments and a lot of ruach (b/c of the music :>) ive been once and its great !!!

We came home from hakafot shniyot with a 4 piece live band. It was nice and lively and a lot of Chilonim got to enjoy the simcha as well.

Yeah...my former chiloni babysitter who was there told me she's leaving her dh, a friend said she has no high school for her daughter, kids were dodging a snake...oy, what a simcha!

I didn't go anywhere. My kids were all majorly hyper after spending all day in shul, dancing around, playing, and stuffing loads of nosh!

The stuff of everyday drama, ho hum. Do you have teenagers? Their majorly hyper capacity doesn't end at nightfall.

We have hakafos shmini azeres night and also simchas torah night and day.

not all the nusach sfard shuls have it in my neighborhood, only some.

The reason why some people do hakafos on both nights, is because there is the question when simchastorah/shmini azeres really is. (in the torah its one day, but in chutz la'aretz we don't know when it starts, so we keep two days)

Our shul has one night hakafot; the 2nd night (hakafot shniyot) are run by the municipality.
