there is also a bottle that comes with a thin tube that attaches. you can use it while you nurse.
the baby nurses and sucks on the tube at the same time. If you try that with formula, she might get used to the taste and want to suck on a bottle that has the formula, eventually...
Maybe someone you know knows the company, brand, or how to get it... I don't remember!
A speech therapist let me borrow one from her, she was trying to help me out!
(It's really used when someone wants to nurse but does not have enough milk supply... they nurse with the tube to give the baby a fuller feeding!) |
It's called the Supplemental Nursing System (SNS) and is made by Medela. I actually own one from a previous child when I lost a lot of my milk supply and wanted to get it back. It works great for that purpose! I never thought of using it to try to get my baby on a bottle. In my situation it's not the taste that's a problem since I've been trying bottles with expressed milk as well as formula and have been getting the same reaction with both, but it's definitely a good idea for a baby who doesn't like the formula.

My baby refuses a bottle and I work (part-time). Once the baby is old enough for solids (which also takes a little while to be firmly established....picky babies don't gobble that down either, right away), you can leave for longer periods of time. I can be out of the house for 5-6 hours, and my baby has two bowls of baby cereal with the babysitter during that time. But she absolutely turns her little cute nose up at the bottle.
