when I open a thread on this site that contains a photo or clip, I just see an empty square with a little icon in the corner? why? what do I do about it?

I have a similar problem-I can see some photos but not others-and no filter here that I know of.

oy vey! I just discovered I can't chat either! When I try to open a chat window, all I get is an empty page with a little red A in the upper left corner. Please, somebody, help me out here!
