my 7 month old has never slept through but did have a recent period of sleeping very well about two weeks ago. now he has started waking usually at midnight and won't go back to sleep in his cot until hours and hours of rocking, nursing and holding have passed. my husband is much better at putting him back in the cot but everytime I do it he'll wake up screaming. my husband can't keep doing this, he suffers if he gets broken sleep and has an early start for work.

I just want to sleep for a thousand years and I'm getting very frustrated and angry in the night when my baby sleeps on me but won't let me put him back. I don't like feeling angry at him, I can't help it.

before anyone suggests co-sleeping, that won't work for us.

are there any ideas what to do?

we tried controlled crying but after trying one night of it I can't do it again.Though my husband wants to try again over pesach when he's off work for a long time.
