Hi,

I am looking for names (of both girls and boys) that mean peace, serenity, calm, comfort, happiness, or of the sort. Ex: Shalom, Rena, Menucha, Simcha... I need names that are not too modern...more along the standard lines...

Is there any girls name with the equivalent meaning to Shalom?

Thanks!!!

Shulamis is the closest to a girl's version of Shalom (it's also a name in tanach)

Nechama/Nachum

Try Gila, Rena, Deetza, Chedva, Ahuva (ahava), Achva....think the bracha.

More traditional girl's names include Shulamis(t) or Shlomit for a girl. Look at Kolatch's Jewish-Hebrew Name Dictionary - it is a great resource.

I heard in Rav Chaim Kanyevsky's name (firsthand) not to name Shlomit (shulamit is fine) since Shlomit bat divri in the Tanach was the first woman who sinned.

She didn't sin but caused Adam to sin in any case it's not written that she sinned.
