How many "second chances" do you give an author?
Say, you read their best seller, or the book everyone raves about, or simply the book your dad loved, and it was blah. Then you hear about a masterpiece, by the same author. Do you read it? On what conditions?

I don't. By now I trust my judgement.
Sometimes I'll read a book I don't particularly like b/c I'm interested in the author in some way (like sometimes actors like to try their hand at writing), but I don't expect to enjoy the book, it's just a fangirl kind of thing.
