We try to only use soda on shabbos. But sometimes we're left with more than ½ bottle.
Is there any way to preserve it so that it still has gas next shabbos?

Put the cap on very lightly, then squeeze the bottle a bit to force out as much air as you can, then screw the cap on tightly. It works due to the pressure difference between the air inside the bottle and the air outside the bottle.

Or try something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Jokari-0.....ML3PM

Sadly, soda doesn't last very long in my house so I've never tried the Fizz Keeper personally.

You can buy the smaller 12oz bottles, even though they are more $$ per oz. it's better than throwing out the soda

In our home, a huge bottle doesn't usually last longer than a day, so I don't know.... in the rare event that it lasts 2, it tastes significantly different.

We let our kids finish the leftovers during the week.

I love flat soda!
Another suggestion: make soda ice cubes for a treat and serve them with the soda next Shabbos or whenever you have the same brand again.

The soda cubes are a great idea!

We also buy smaller bottles, because I hate flat soda.

Close the cap really tight and then store it upside down.
