I am writing an e-mail to an old friend of mine who is not frum (me met through aish hatorah). Last time I wrote to her she told me that she was dating someone. I would like to ask about him or her dating life because I care but I don't know how to ask. What if she isn't dating that man anymore? What if she is?
Can you help me figure out how to ask and show that I care without offending?

Why not just ask how she's doing? What's going on? What's new? SHe'll let you know if there's something to say.
