my close friend has a son in a boy scout camp (he is in an all-frum troop of boys). I was going to send food treats, but it's not allowed because of bears!! now I need ideas as to what I can send this 12 yr old boy. I was thinking mad libs, and maybe a paint-by-numbers kit with a boy theme...(too baby-ish?)

ideas please!!

TIA

Don't they keep them busy at camp? I wouldn't send crafts.

Camps do give spare time. Many kids like to have activities they can do in that time.
How about a blow up beach ball, frag catching kit, pack of cards...go to the dollar store and see what looks exciting.

A Mad Libs is cute. Maybe a book, yo-yo, baseball, travel-size game (like chess, checkers, battleship etc..) How old is the boy?

Boy Scout camp is a bit different from most overnight camps you're used to. They may be sleeping in tents. In sleeping bags, not cots. They don't have the amenities of traditional camps. This is CAMPING, not camp.

They use glowsticks at night and on Shabbat, so those might be welcome. Some wet wipes to wipe his face with, to cool down. (If the weather were cool, gel hand warmers are nice.) Maybe a deck of cards.

Whatever he walked INTO the camp site needs to be carried OUT of the camp site.
My vote is for an awesome flashlight, cool sunblock--that colors your body blue or lime green--
a battery operated fan that spray water... Bed and Bath

LOL thanks everyone for the replies...

so far I got him a realistic looking long rubber snake, a package of silly bands bracelets, and a "slogan bracelet" that says "awesome." I'll keep shopping around.

keep the ideas coming!
