My dh and I are going to family friends for shabbos. We're sleeping and eating all three meals there. What's a suitable gift to bring? the family are financially very comfortable, and don't need gifts, but I want to bring something as a token of our appreciation....
thanks for any ideas!

I like bringing a nice glass plate or bowl filled with home made cookies.

If you think they'll appreciate it, a donation card from a local tzedaka like their kids' school or tomchei shabbos - s/t unviversal, is nice. Along with cookies/wine/flowers if you want.
We did that for someone who "had it all", and they were very touched. It was to an organization that they did alot for, so it worked well.
Enjoy your trip!

Just be careful that the cook doesn't get her hands on it. She may use it for cooking. True story.

I'd probably bring flowers and something yummy from the bakery or a candy tray.

If you live in Brooklyn, Boro Park, Mini Temptations on 16th Avenue cor, 45th street, has some very interesting inexpensive, different things, which might just be the right thing.

Toys for their children?
Some really fancy dessert? Chocolate?
Donation to a charity in their name?
Some Shabbos related things, like a beautiful new havdallah candle, or some new besamim?

I second the chocolate, flowers, cake, candy or cookies ideas. With a nice handwritten note, of course.
