I have no girls names in the family (I used them already) to name after and I'd really like to name my baby after someone, not just pick a name that I like. Problem is I know all the Rabbanim/ gedolim but I don't know names of women! Can you help me out with a name for a baby girl?
I'm looking for a name of someone that was a wife or mother of a gadol, or just a great lady in her own merit. Of course I'd like a pretty name as well.
thanks!!

(btw I am not labavitch so no chaya mushka, and not chofetz chaim so no peshy/pessy.)

op again
I'd be open to a name from tanach. Those I know of already but I was hoping someone on here might be able to tell me of names of women that I don't know of/ more recent women. Like who were the wives and mothers of all the tzadikim? I guess I can do research, I just figured some people might know this offhand and make it easier for me.
thanks

If I was picking a name, I would pick Chana, Shmuel Hanavi's mother. This is what I thought during my last pregnancy while listening to the song The Silent Scream. Interestingly enough that was aleady my oldest's name. Otherwise I would name after one of the imahos.

op

I prefer hebrew over yiddish names.
I also like the name chana, and I know of all the tanach names.
I was hoping to find names of a woman after the times of tanach. Like who was the wife of the rambam? who was the mother of R' Dessler (michtav eliyahu)? etc.
I guess I'll have to research a bit but just was hoping some of you would know offhand the names of some great women and it would help me out alot.

thanks for taking the time!

I really wouldn't recommend naming after someone who was niftar at a young age, even if they were great. There isn't even a family connection.

Gracia Nasi?
Udel the dd of the Baal shem tov?
The dds of Rashi were Yocheved, Miriam and Rachel Belle/Belle-Assez.
Chaya Sara Kramer

There are probably a ton of well known women in your community to choose from (ex: if Chabad, Chaya Mushka).
