my dd's both new their colors and shapes by 2 years old.

Every child is different - it can take longer than that.
When my daugher was about 2 1/2, I was concerned because she didn't know her colors yet. I mentioned this to her playgroup teachers and asked if it was normal, they reassured me that it was totally fine. Now, at a little over 3 she knows her colors well.
