Is it? I just saw it on chol hamoed and was wondering how well it's received by little ones.
(I think our kids are basically the same ages )

These ideas look great!
Unfortuantely my husband has put a cherem on bringing any more toys w/ small pieces into our house until the kids are old enough to clean up after themselves because the clean-up is getting too much for the two of us!
Tip - try to get these used - craigslist, etc. - for a fraction of the price.
For my son's 2 year old birthday, my MIL bought a Thomas train table with tons of magnetic trains, wooden tracks, people, storefronts, trees, etc. for $100 from luach/Teaneck Times.

Tova, we basically have the same cherem. We only bring out toys like Knex/Clics for certain times (Yom Kippur was one of them!)
For quiet, individual play, Rush Hour Jr. was a BIG hit here. It's officially for ages 6-8, but my 5 year old can do all the levels, and my 3.5 year old can do some of the beginner ones. For the younger age, just setting up the board is fun, as they get older, maneuvering the cars around is quite fun.
When I gave it to my 5 year old for the first time, he spent an entire hour sitting and doing 10 of the boards.

Just googled Rush Hour Jr. - my son would LOVE that! Maybe we'll suggest that along when grandparents ask what to get him for Chanukah or his 4th birthday (or toilet training - may that happen speedily in our days).
My daugher is almost two and we haven't even opened her one year old birthday present from my in-laws - a doll house with people and furniture.
It's gotten to the point that my mother brought over those foam big ABC puzzle pieces that make a huge floor mat to play on and they loved it so much but made such a huge mess scattering it all over the main level of the house that my husband packed it all back hid it in the laundry room.

Magnatiles is also a huge hit here.
http://www.magnatiles.com/
Its expensive but we've gotten so much use from it so far.
My 4, 3, and 1 year old children all have something to do with it. the pieces are not small enough to swallow. My kids enjoy it so much more then the clicks. I'm tempted to buy another set but I can't really justify spending that much on one toy.
Its even fun to put away, because we stack into a box it fits in perfectly.
