My poem is about a different meaning of the word life.

Life

I wake up in the morning.
I open up my eyes.
I stretch my arms and legs,
Stand up to my full size.

And I wonder how it happens.
What makes us all alive?
What allows us all to hear and see
And feel and think and strive?

I realize it is magic
Called just “life” in our time.
We take it all for granted
That we live and move just fine.

There’s a magic deep inside me
That allows my heart to beat.
It’s this magic that allows me to
Move my hands and feet.

It should not be seen as normal
Or expected every day.
That we should be able to move and speak
And be alive in every way.

Its a long road , one where you can't see what's ahead.
A road full of bumps , turns & twists
But at the end, its us that makes our bed.

One moment its infertility
And then a miracle, our baby!
Financial issues & more
We're still waiting for a knock on our door

But hope is something we need
We hold onto faith & plead
We pray to God for all
And one day, soon, our name He'll call.

But I won't lie
Sometimes I do want to die
Not always is faith easy
Its those days that I feel queezy

This is why I say
Each day I treat so differently
I try to pray
That I can be strong
365 days a year , 24 hours a day
Lifes road is pretty long

Some times there are bumps
But others there are swings & rides
Helping us get by

Hold on tight
It may be a fight
But worth it, it is
Because at the end of the night
We're happy to be alive.

Here's one about an entire different aspect of 'life' its 'A life':
I look at you
See your round face
Beautiful lips
And twinkle in your eye

You're my neshama
My heart and soul
You bring me joy
From the inside out

You bring tears to my eyes
Tears of nachas
You remind me of all
The beautiful things in life

So inoccent
So sweet
So tender
And fine

I prayed to God
over & over
He answered me
When you filled my life

You're my little miracle
You're the answer to my prayer
You're the perfect blessing

You are my son.

a lesson
never fully learned
a trip
a fall
a mistake
trying again
a success
a fall again.
a journey
to wisdom
and spirituality
a community
an aloneness--
a unity
a knowledge
and a thirst for it.
demand
effort
flow of time wasted
and spent wisely
apologies
and pride
a quest--

life.

The sky was still dark when I left my house. Shutting the door gently behind me, I began walking in the direction of the lightening sky. I walked slowly, savoring the freedom of the early morning, free of responsibility and worry. This early in the morning, traffic was sparse and I luxuriated in the feeling of quiet and calm. My footsteps led me to my destination. A heady rush ran over me as I beheld the most magnificent sight. The water, gently lapping the shore, the sky slowly becoming lighter as the sun, a radiant ball of fire slowly made its way up over the horizon. My breath caught in my throat as the beauty of the moment overcame me. In the quiet of morning, it was me and the beauty of creation, in sync, at peace. I opened my well worn siddur and began to pray. “Modeh Ani L’fanecha”. I savored each and every word, true meaning coloring my supplications as I beheld the wondrous sight of a new day unfolding. “Shehechezarta bi nishmasi”-You Hashem, who creates perfection, and renews the world every day, has given me my neshama back. When I finish my davening, I behold once more the wonder of His Creation. I take in the water, the sky, the horizon and draw the strength from the reassurance that Hashem renews the world each day. I then tear myself away and begin the brisk walk back home to face the day.
