is there any way to make butternut squash soup without an immersion blender?

It's messier but do you have a regular blender? You could use that to blend the soup in batches.

or use a potato masher and have a chunky texture.

thanks for the advice. I'm gonna try the blender idea --- I want a smooth/creamy soup.
