I want to try out a new recipe for banana cake for my mm. the recipe calls for sour cream, and it says if you want to make it pareve, use pareve sour cream. im assuming it means soy. but I never saw it before. does it exist? would I find it near the regular sour cream in the supermarket? if not, anyone know any store in lakewood that sells it? tia

It's made by Tofutti. Most stores (regular or kosher) in Lakewood should have it.

In Israel Tofutti is expensive and hard to come by. It's not too hard to make your own in the food processor:

1 10.5-ounce package of lite silken tofu
1 Tablespoon vegetable or olive oil
3 teaspoons lemon juice (fresh is best)
2 teaspoons cider vinegar
1 teaspoon sugar or Splenda, (I think honey or agave will work)
1/2 teaspoon salt

-whirr away and add tablespoons of
water to get the consistency you like

Chocolate moose, do you know the conversion scale of sour cream to mayo?

It's more than a cooking website. It's kind of a testing ground for a cookbook I've been working on.
If you want, you can see it here:
www.thekosherchannel.com

I'd love to hear what you think.
I'm not trying to sell anything there...except for simcha and ahavas Hashem!
