I would assume simple, bland foods. When DS had tubes put in the anesthesiologist said a side effect could be upset stomach. They actually never said what foods are good so maybe it's not an issue?

refuah shleima!

My daughter was really nauseous. She had apple sauce and some juice. Chicken soup once we got home. Fluids were the most important. At the time Pedialyte made popsicles with an OU. If they still make them, those were great, too.

My son who was 5 at the time was required to eat a full meal before he was discharged. He obliged very nicely, and ate a whole hermolis fleishig meal with gusto!

My daughter who was 2 at the time of her op didn't want anything to eat at all, but she was drinking water and orange juice. The nurse kept telling me to give her toast, and after me refusing the hospital toast about twenty times she finally gave up. I had brought along a banana, a yogurt and a chocolate spread sandwich which are all things she loved, but she didn't want any of them. After a few hours she ate the banana and after being observed for an hour or so she was discharged.

Agree with others. I also didn't have any appetite and felt quite nauseous. Something easy to digest and easy on stomach, hopefully nothing too acidic like orange juice. Apple sauce, apple juice, jell-o, plain toast or cereal (nothing too sugary) would fit the bill.

The nurses also monitor fluid intake and ability to pass urine. So enough liquid (usually water). I feel very cold after general aneasthetic so a nice cup of milky tea was exactly what I needed.

You can order Hermo meals at most major hospitals but I don't recommend this, as they usually microwave frozen one in stock, I really couldn't stomach the whole airplane-style food tray. They also have a ready-made sandwich or soup (tends to be salty side) but probably not the first meal straight after anaethetic.

Hope all goes well, refua shelema.

I would start with Crackers (saltines or graham) which they do give some patients in the PACU, ginger ale or apple juice
