my son has been going to a frum woman every day while I teach. my MIL just moved back to town and she will be watching him during the day instead of the babysitter.
do I need to get a goodbye gift for this woman? if yes, what's appropriate?

TIA!

A gift is always appreciated! I bought my son's babysitter a watch, since I knew she needed one anyway. . . You can always go for a gift card, or a nice household item (pretty vase, etc.)

I would get her something. Even if it's something small, it will be very much appreciated.

thanks amother for your ideas.
the only thing that seems fitting is a serving platter of some sort, but I seem to recall her saying earlier in the year that she has so many serving dishes.
I do not think she'd appreciate a toy for the kids, we don't have a local seforim store, and I don't like giving plain cash cuz I never know the proper amount.....
something for pesach would be nice, but I can't think of anything I can get locally....

a random thought... you mentioned something for pesach, every year on erev pesach my parents had us sit on the stairs in out house and take a picture. is there a local photography studio, maybe you can pre-pay a session/some prints so she and her family can get nice pictures, or if you are friendly with this woman and her children, get the kids together, and take them to get a professional portrait done,... a few years ago for chanuka I had to organize mine and my three siblings different schedules to get a professional portrait taken, but my mother really loved and appreciated it

wow single, that's a really nice idea- just way more $ than I want to spend. I was definitely happy having my son there, but not so over-the-top-enthused that I'd get something that nice.
I got a nice serving dish today, and hope to find SOMETHING in our little OOT market to put inside so I can bring it by before shabbos.
