I wear a pearl choker (tight on my neck) every Shabbos for years. Sometimes I need to wear something longer, like 16 inches, but I am not sure what I want – I certainly don’t want to have to buy matching earrings and a bracelet for it!

I am thinking of something in chunky gold that I saw in Vermille (sp?) on my trip, but the guy said if it was all gold it would cost a fortune. I want something real.

I don’t really want a strand of pearls, and I don’t want a diamond necklace……

What do you all think I should do? As I’ve stated before we just bought an apt and have a lot of expenses right now, so it could be for Pesach or even in a few years, I gues.

I have a really pretty white gold chain with a white gold and diamond encrusted heart pendant. It did not cost a fortune, total about $400 a couple years ago, it hits right below the collar bone and looks very pretty with a simple black top. It would not work with a collared blouse though unless you'd wear it open enough to show.

As I said, I mostly wear my dog collar thing, as the kids call it.

This would be to wear with a suit and dickey or shell underneath.

I wear a lot of simple jewelry everyday, so I have to at least keep up that standard on Shabbos, so a chain or pendant won't do it for me....unles it's perhaps a chunky double strand of something, but then again, I dunno.....

Anyone else?

Thank you for the mussar , but I was simply trying to let OP visualize the length of the necklace Confused BTW, why did you feel you needed to post that anonymously?

Why do you say that? Haven't you seen people that keep a few buttons open and wear a shell underneath?

Sara, there are plenty of fancy pendent necklaces.

I have a fancy pendant necklace. Heart and diamonds. I wear it for everyday. Remember I work in a law office.

I have a lot of simpler pendants that I wear every day too.

I don't want that.......I don't want to wear a ladybug or thong or other gemstone stone on a chain!

I also only like to wear "real".

And I also can't afford to buy gold and diamonds.

So all of my jewellery is silver either plain, or with semi-precious stones. It has become MY personal style! That way, dh can even afford to buy me Tiffany jewellery (silver), for special occasions.

Well even if you aren't into costume jewelery, you could look at Michal Negrin, it might change your mind. A Michal Negrin necklace really brightens up any outfit.
But if that's not what you are looking for, just keep it in mind if you need a gift for your daughters! Young girls love that stuff!
