If you want to make up a phoney-baloney siman, you can say you eat a "te-enah" so that our enemies should have no "ta-anot" against us. makes as much sense as any of the others that use word play, and at least this one is in Loshon Kodesh.

My parents have figs and say "yehi ratzon that we should 'fig'ure out how to deal with all our problems."
I think the fig might've really been there for shehechiyanu purposes...but there's nothing wrong with making up simanim; it's just another way of saying a tefilla
