I've found this to be really helpful, and it's free, so I'm sharing it!
http://actionenforcer.com/online/
(you need to be online for it to work, if you want a desktop version they charge $27.)
You simply describe your task, set up how many minutes you want it to take. Up to 9 tasks.
Then, when you start your task, you click the arrow to start the countdown.
I find that I lose focus and tasks take me longer than necessary, so this has really helped me.
For example:
I'll set up: Deal with laundry - 30 min. Bake 2 cakes - 60 min. While the timer is counting down, I don't let myself interrupt my task (aside from if people need me!) for random things like starting another task, checking what's going on on imamother, or checking my email, etc. If I have a really long task, I'll break it into 2 or 3 smaller ones, so that I can get a break in middle. It buzzes at the end, which sometimes freaks me out if I'm being very focused!
