yes, I'm still shaking!
usually I read about the practices on Arutz 7 but I saw nothing about this one.
I looked out the window and everyone is going about their usual business, shops open etc, buses running, etc, so I figured it was nothing

People going about their business doesn't tell me anything. During castlead a siren blew in Jerusalem (reports conflicted about whether it was a false alarm or they saw something coming and didn't want to take a chance but where able to intercept) and people just went about their business. One women did pull over and ask me if it was a test and when I told her I didn't know she shrugged and drove away. We were in the middle of a war!! No one cared. Well I guess I did I was freaking out

IIRC tests/drills are supposed to be with one long blast that sounds the same.
A real siren emergency has the tone going up and down - like an ambulance.

oh wow..this calmed me down..
I was shaking..I heard it - couldn't get thru to hubby and then looked outside and saw e/o going abt their business- which I guess isn't the best indicator..
turned on the radio and didn't hear a/t..and none of my neighbors (some of which I know are home now) were going anywhere so I hoped it was n/t..

I heard them announce on the radio this morning that they would be doing a test in J'lem today.

I heard yesterday that there'd be a test in jerusalem, so when I heard it locally (not in jerusalem) I just assumed we were included in the drill.

Yes, it was definitely the up and down one, but I guess they needed to test that! I'm glad it was louder than the test one-- on Yom HaZicharon I had to open the windows to hear.
My first clue it was a test was that it stopped-- I assume if it were real it would keep going? So if that happened, where would instructions be announced--like if you were supposed to put on masks or something?

If it were real it would have stopped anyway. But you'd get instructions on TV or the radio. Also all news websites would carry the story.
When in doubt turn on the radio.
Do not expect loud speakers to go off.

It was the up and down one that I heard (Har Nof) and that's the one we usually hear over here...
By the way, just to calm your nerves, the test sirens usually go off at 11 am whenever they do one...
