The Canadian Pediatric Society recommends starting babies on whole milk, that is 3.25% no earlier than age one. However, there is no benefit or need to give milk with so much fat after age 2. The fat is to help only with early brain development. After that age you should give your child 2% milk. All milk in Canada is color coded, that includes cholov stam as well. You can always go to the Canadian Pediatric Society or the Canadian College of Physicians web site and look up information on nutrition and health. Very Happy

and if your kids are skinny then by all means give them the full fat milk till any age!!! they only recommend the 2% milk after age 2 to deal with the growing problem of overweight kids. if that doesnt apply to you, then dont follow it.
and in canada we have 3.25% red milk, then blue is 2% then pink is 1% then green is no fat or skim.

I am not really sure if you should give skinny or overweight kids full fat milk after age two. There is no nutritional benefit in giving children all that fat. There is nothing wrong with a skinny kid and having a child drink fat to put on weight is not the best way to gain weight either. Also, drinking a fatty milk gets children used to drinking very creamy fatty drinks and that isn't good for the future.

brain is fat.

In order for the brain to develope properly, it needs fat.

Children NEED fat.

Skim stuff is resul of the life style where people can't watch their diets & do not exersise, & drive everywhere.

Watch your diet, get exersize (free play for kids) and eat fat.

IMHO

I was at the doc. yesterday and ask if I can begin since my daughter will be 11 months in 5 days, anyways this morning I decided to try it in the morming to see if she'll react and she didn't like it she took a few sips and pushed it away. so I ended up giving her her formula. any tips on how to introduce it.

of course she pushed it away, she never had it before. take it slowly and let her get used to it, you can even water it down.
