I can't help you, but my 4 yr old is afraid of all noises, but my 1 1/2 yr old loves noises, so I'm glad I never asked this question because the baby loves it Very Happy .

My Braun is very quiet on low and medium - which works fine most of the time. If I do need to turn it high, it is loud, but on the lower settings I can carry on a phone conversation without a problem at all. I don't know what the model is.

Faigy, can you check the bottom of the food processor and see if it has any identification on it? I.e- any serial number, etc. would be helpful. TIA

I also have a Braun that's really quiet. I can't exactly talk on the phone while I use it, it's more of a loud hum than a harsh banging sound.

I can't find the model online, (tho I'm pretty sure it's the CombiMax) but I'll try to check it when I get home.

I have the 12 cup kitchenaid, but a search at bedbathandbeyond.com and macys.com yields no results, so it looks like it's not being made anymore. There's now a 13 cup food processor instead.
