I am expecting my second baby girl around Shavuot. Both my husband and I like (and agree on) the name Naomi? What do you think of that name?

I personally never cared for it, but I know quite a few of them. Some my age, late 30's, and some my dd's age, early teens.

I am biased, because it is my name... but if it counts for anything, I DO like my name. :-)

I have a Shavuous baby with the middle name Naomi. (Nah-Oh-Me, not Nay-O-Me).
Love it and beautiful for the chag.

Love the name. Bshaa tova.
But please .... don't give your child a name, then associate it with a non-standard pronunciation where you live. Michael is MY-kuhl, not mi-kah-YALE. mi-kah-YALE is stuck with a lifetime of correcting people.
Anonymous because I admit it, I'm a chicken.

I like the name but I find it confusing that there are so many different ways to pronounce it.
I have heard:
Na-Yo-Me
Na-Oh-Me
Nu-Uh-Me
Nuh-Me
No-Me

I love it, but pronounced Na-oh-me.
How do they pronounce Naomi in Israel? do they say Nomi?

Ditto. That was my #1 choice for a girl name, but DH had a strong aversion because he knew someone awful with that name. I played that card with a boy name, so what could I say?

Same thing with me! I LOVE this name, and my husband hates it... very sad.

I cannot speak for other countries, but in the US, the ONLY standard pronunciation is nay-OH-mee. It is sometimes mispronounced as nie-OH-mee.
Everything else is a non-American English pronunciation, or a mispronunciation.
