I love it. to me the name Lily is timeless and completely gorgeous. suits an elderly lady as much as it does a little girl. it's simple, elegant and classic.

my grandma was called Lily, although her full name was Lillian, she was always known by everyone as Lily. some people may think it is a little incomplete on its own as a name but it's a cute modern name, and also classic so it does age well. it's very pretty and delicate and just soo darn adorable!
you may want to give her a Jewish/hebrew name too?

I've seen Lilia as Hebrew name (modern Israeli).
Or it could be Elisheva? or a flower name, what is Lily already?

it's a flower name in english the same as daisy or rose. it looks kind of like a tulip flower I think and there are water lilies too which grow within water, like in a pond.

Not really. Sounds a little silly in English. And in Hebrew it means "mine mine". Like the parents were fighting.
But once you meet someone nice with a name that didn't appeal to you, you think of it differently.

I like the name. It's not a hebrew nama though, afaik. I am not fond of the flowers. Ugly, and make my eyes water. And they leave stains.

My friend has a Tehilla and calls her "Lila." Could easily be Lily as a nickname.

Lovely in English. Could be "Shoshana" in Hebrew.

Lilia is a Hebrew elaborated form of Lily which you could use.
I think Lily is a very sweet, girly yet old fashioned name and very pretty. it's very common at the moment though, and I don't know why gives the impression of being weak and fragile. a suggestion is to have the full name Liliana or Lillian and Lilly for short.
all in all I do like it though it's pure sounding and classically beautiful fitting any age group from infants to old women.

I think Lily is one of the prettiest names in the world for a girl. It's so gentle and sweet. I don't see it as weak and fragile as a lady I know with this name is quite strong. It has very positive connotations for me.
go for it

It reminds me of 60-year-old women. Loving, buxom women that wear aprons and bake cookies and milk for the grandchildren.

Lily is a beautiful and classic name all by itself, and actually very popular in English-speaking countries now.
I don't like it as a Hebrew name, if that's how you mean to use it, but it works as either a nickname for something like Liora, or as a secular name.

Nice, but to my ear, not very Jewish. Maybe consider:
Lilach (Hebrew for lilac).
Lila (same)
Libi ('my heart')
Livya (crown, wreath)
Leah Libby

My aunt is Lilly, she's well into her fifties and she's named after my great grandmother Lilian.
I also love the name if you're planning on using an English name, it's a good one.

I love the name in english. very pretty. I named my car lily.
in hebrew it sounds a bit strange- me me, I would not use it for hebrew. sounds like the mom is too possessive of the child.
