Someone in my neighborhood hosted my mother for 3 weeks while I had a baby. I didnt know this person from before I found her through a communal message board. The accommodations were just a room for sleeping no meals. What kind of gift would be appropriate to show our appreciation? We dont have a lot if money right now.

You can get a nice vase from a Home Goods/Marshalls type of store and put a nice bouquet in it. With a thank you note, I think that's appropriate. Or even just the bouquet and note alone.
