I know someone that desperately needs a nice new sheitel (works full time out of the house) but can't afford it. All the info I see is for gemachs that send sheitals to Israel. What about for the poor folks of NY that need? Is there a sheital gemach for us?

I think I once heard of a sheital gemach in Queens. I can look it up later if you are interested.
