I don't own a sheital and am tired of being one of the only ones at a simcha without one. If we were to stay in america I would definately get one but we hope to make aliya iyh soon and I wanted to know if I would stand out without one there too. I would say that we are American yeshivish if that matters.

I have plenty of yeshivish friends without sheitlach, even at chassunas. They wear pretty scarves or fancy snoods.

Among the American Yeshivish crowd in Yerushalayim, most of us have shaitels. However, there are a number of people who do not. It really depends on the neighborhood. Which neighborhood are you considering?

RBS is a very American neighborhood. Almost everyone there wears a Shaitel to anything more than going to the park or Makolet. Definitely by Simchos, Sheitels are the norm, however there are a few exceptions who wear mostly nice hats and it is fine. It depends if you would be comfortable being 1 of 2-3 people wearing a hat in a crowd wearing Shaitels.

I live in Rbs. Most people here wear sheitals.
its not the kind of place that you NEED to wear one to go to the store or anything like that but for sure on shabbos and get togethers most people wear a sheital
