So ... I usually have some sort of basket wrapped nicely w/ cellophane. This year I bought bags but I realize that you can't just put in a grape juice and chocolate as the bag is much larger. I don't like giving things like laffy taffy and potato chips .. pple can buy that whenever/if they want. I want to put in something more substantial but don't want to spend so much. Your ideas are much appreciated!

Fruit takes up space and can be cheap...apples, oranges etc

Use gift basket stuffing, not sure of the actual name but put it in the bottom and it holds everything in place and takes up space. If the bags are cellophane you can buy it in really pretty colors and it will look nice if you match it to whatever you close the bags with.

I bought mangoes, which really fill up the bag but an orange or apple is nice too.

basket stuffing as in tissue paper or the grassy stuff?

Thank you everyone for the fruit ideas.

Can still use a little more help in filling my bag.

Make some hamentashen. I second the fruit and grassy filling.

fruit is definitely a winner....try also rice cakes, muesi (granola) bars.

you can also add a couple of pretty napkins (serviettes) that they have something to wipe their hands/fingers with when they're done eating! (takes up space and looks very attractive!)

I used to sometimes put in a small toy (a balloon, a bouncy ball, plastic animal), small and extremely cheap but it adds something, especially if the recipient/s have children...
