There is nothing wrong with addressing someone as Madam. It's the use of Madam as a noun with an article ( as in a madam) that makes it seem funny to someone with a dirty mind (me!) Sorry to offend, I am sure they are lovely sheitels.

There is a House in New Orleans
They call The Rising Sun
It's been the ruin of many a young man,
And L-rd, I know I'm one.
So mothers tell your children,
Don't do as I have done,
....

This is just too funny. I thought you were going to show a pic of a very long, lush, secksy wig that might channel the spirit of the proprietress of a "house of pleasure" in Dodge City in 1859 or so.
Cookies and Cream--calling someone "Madam" and calling her "A madam" are two very different things.

reminds me of the ad for a jewish baby clothes store called 'bimbo'- she probably doesn't know what that means either, but it makes me laugh every time I see the ad.....

Hunh! I thought the House of the Rising Sun was either a gambling establishment or a drug den. Well, at first I thought it was a house of ill repute, but the song talks about "the only thing a gambler needs" so I revised my initial assumption.

What reallly amazes me is that they might have come up with the slogan first and then decided to name the wig 'Madam'. Whoever advised them on the slogan REALLY missed American vernacular in school! ha-ha!

Actually in Europe Madam is the title you would give an elegant/older woman.
In Yiddish it has also seeped through to mean somebody very fancy (or thinks they are)
I can understand where they got it from, but yes it is still amusing...

Yeah, calling someone madam may be fine... as a title.. but 'a madam' has bad connotations.
Why a woman would deserve the look and feel of a madam I'm not sure.
I'm not feeling any madams thank you very much.

I was rolling when I saw this ad!!!
About 'Bimbo' while I thought it was a weird name choice, I never saw them use it as a noun reffering to their customers

Well, there's lots worse out there. My personal favorite is a German company that makes MP3 players under the iBeat name. They decided to put out a cool-looking all black product and called it (ready for this one) iBeat Blaxx. Ads were pulled on the first day, but its still legendary.
Have pity. Email the poor person who placed the ad, and clue her in.

Actually my friend calls her cute little granddaughter Miss Madam sometimes (accent on the second syllable) but, yes, quite different from A Madam (accent on the first syllable).

YES! I wrote to Spirit about it. No reply (and points to anyone who knows which popular group sang that one ) The thing is, I suspect that the ad was NOT written by a clueless millenial who only knew the term STD.
