I've been house hunting and naturally I see houses that I like and want to know what I can bid based on how much I should set aside for some repairs/upgrades. I know we'll get an inspection for big things like electric, roof, etc and negotiate before contract based on that report, but I feel like I need information about little things like how much it costs to redo some flouring or clean up a bathroom, painting, etc. I've called friend's contractors but no one gets back to us - I assume because no one likes to walk through houses people are just thinking of buying.
What do people who aren't friends with contractors do?
