For what age?
In Every Generation was wonderful. There's an adult and a youth edition. I could give you many more suggestions, give us more info.

Some of my favorites include Rebbetzin Kanievsky (Artscroll), In Every Generation, Reb Shlomo and Warmed by Their Fire (last two both by Yisroel Besser). If you don't mind a biography that's not about a Gadol but is fantastic and does have encounters with Gedolim then I would suggest Lieutenant Birnbaum.
