what paint is safer and better to use in an apartment?? any suggestions???

Never use oil indoors w/o lots of ventilation or w/babies in house. Oil is used for specialty things like porch flooring - outside stuff or small projects. Latex paints come in many finishes that go from flat to high gloss and several in between. Depending on finish you like and washability - Behr at Home Depot or Sherwin Williams & many others. And use Kilz primer if walls are particularly ugly or stained before painting.

I dont live in the apartment yet so it can be aired out for a week, what paint is the best. my painter wants to use benjamin moore oil paint.

Use the latex for the walls and oil for the woodworks and windowsills and ledges. The oil is high gloss and it’s very shiny and you see every stain. But when it’s contrasting the edges it looks very pretty.
Also, the oil is permanent and very hard to clean off and if he’s not the best painter and it drips, the drip dries and it hardens sort of like an icicle, suspended in mid-air. Latex is for everyone and is more reliable. For oil you have to be a real expert.

Hello - you do not use oil paint on indoor walls - I happen to paint houses - painters sometimes just want to use what they have available or will be cheap for them and still charge you (I have worked w/them) - High Gloss Latex on woodwork.

I used Benjamin Moore latex high gloss for my kitchen. It cleans real easy. I did apply a layer or two of primer. Definitely helps the paint stick better.

Water based is not only safer but also way easier to clean up incase of mishaps

That's why you use primer - it allows new paint to stick to old paint - no matter what is on walls - Kilz 2 is the best primer cause it covers up stains

They have that nowadays - latex duration - more expensive but worth it to those especiallly w/little kids who like to draw on the walls.
