Does anyone remember this song - it's very painful, I think I learned it in camp once (raninu or sternberg) and very moving?
I wish I remembered the words....

it describes a mother who is leaving her child with a gentile family during the holocaust. and she tells him that she has to go away and he is devastated and clings to her and she is devastated too. Eventually he falls asleep on her and it is then that she can bring him to the gentile's house, kiss him, and leave him, broken hearted.

if anyone remembers this song, I would really appreciate if you could write the words to it for me.

it goes something like this
"In a village forest deep
On a path so very steep
There she lingers there she sighs
children .....into the sky

....
No my mother you must go
....
How she kisses him how she cried
...
She kissed him on his curly head
...
When you wake...

In their ways you must not go
