My good friend had twin boys this morning. I said a hearty mazel tov, and then wondered if I shouldn't have. But they could be moshiach, right?

As my FIL always said, he would rather go to gehenom for returning a greeting on tisha b'av than insult someone.
Not wishing mazal tov to someone would be in the same category for me.

I learnt that greeting is not allowed, but mazal tov is.

I said mazal tov to my neighbour this morning who told me his son is getting married on Friday (neighbour is not Jewish). Chas v'shalom we should use this day to make a chillul Hashem.
