I usually spend around $20.
But I only give to very close people.
Siblings and very close friends.

Lately, I've been skipping gifts if I make them a supper. A supper for 2 adults plus 3-6 kids costs $25 or so...

I also only give to very close friends and spent around $15. My mother gives many and usually spends around $10 either for a strechy or a toy from amazing savings or kohls.

Depends for who but usually about 20$ unless I find something cute on sale. I try but dont always give to every person we know who had a baby.

I've been doing this too. Though, I recently had a baby and I am now rethinking this.

Depends for who.
For one friend I bought her baby a cute pair of socks for $3 and herself a bar of chocolate.
For another I made some cupcakes and sent her a stretchi for $3.
It depends who, and how much is in my bank account.

I don't buy that many (usually just first kids) and I don't have that many close friends, but I tend to buy a cute outfit in babies r us (they have a fancy line) or kohls etc.. for around 15-30 dollars.

I'm the op of the other thread. I concur with the others - I only buy gifts for people I feel close with, and even that is sporadic, depending on our financial situation. Glad to know I'm not cheap!
The best baby gift I got was a handmade blanket.

I also love handmade stuff. As for the cost- I have a budget but if the toy is very educational or super cool in some other way, I can stretch it a bit, usually.

What are your thoughts now about it?

I often make something, if I'm close with the woman--a sweater/hat/blanket/booties.
however, here's a good tip to know: target donates many of their "returns" to goodwill, where you can buy them at amazing savings. in nyc, goodwill is open on sundays! I've gotten great toys, in their own boxes, for $5
