Where do I start? What do I need to know? There are so many different options out there ... new house ... old house ... how do I narrow things down? (I know that I want a relatively yeshivish neighborhood, but there are so many new things out there that I don't even recognize)

For starters, do you want a new house or old one to fix up? What's your price range? Any specifics regarding location, as in, do you want center or is a bit out ok?

Not sure about any of that. All we ruled out for sure is a development with everyone right on top of each other, but otherwise openminded.
$$wise also depends on the house: if it needs fixing up, if it has a rentable basement etc. etc.
would prefer in-town, but assume I'll end up further out.
